The Blixens Office Building in Gellerup, Aarhus, is a striking example of how architecture can foster inclusivity and sustainability. This 23,000 m² project integrates public workspaces, urban functions, and community spaces, serving as a bridge between citizens and local government.
Wall Panels with Character and Sustainability
As part of the building’s focus on sustainability, Genbyg A/S supplied untreated, recycled pine wood panels for the interior walls. These panels, impregnated with Burnblock®, were chosen to prioritize environmental responsibility and create a warm, unique aesthetic.
The wall panels were delivered pre-assembled for easy installation, ensuring a smooth process for the contractor, A. Enggaard A/S. The use of recycled materials not only enhanced the building’s character but also aligned with the sustainable vision of the project.
Architectural Vision
Designed by Arkitema, Blixens serves as an open and welcoming space that integrates public and private functions. The ground floor features a café, restaurant, workshops, and a coffee-roasting business, with walkways and a public roof terrace offering panoramic views of Aarhus Bay.
The building’s design emphasizes recycled and distinctive materials, creating a sense of belonging and recognizability for its users.
