An additive in the fiber or treatment on the fabric is used to provide some level of flame retardancy. During a fire, chemically dependent fabrics rely on a chemical reaction to extinguish the flame. This reaction is triggered by the heat of the fire and the amount of time the fabric is exposed to the fire.

How Does Burnblock Work?

Burnblock is a highly effective and organic fire retardant. Burnblock is consisting of three purely natural ingredients combined in a patented formula. Burnblock effectively prevents oxygen from reaching the treated object – and without oxygen: no fire. nothing treated with Burnblock will ignite or burn.

Burnblock is completely harmless and even in case the substance should make contact with the human eye, it will be no more harmful than fruit juice.

Burnblock Meets Regulatory Requirements

Fire-retardant fabrics are textiles that are naturally more resistant to fire than others through chemical treatment or manufactured fireproof fibers. We are testing our product on an on-going basis. Early 2012, applied to three different fabric types, Burnblock passed the relevant tests within Californian Technical Bulletin 117. We expect the same results for most cases of textiles impregnated with Burnblock.
Regulatory requirements vary from region to region. Please let us know which tests your fabric needs to pass and we will help and support you in the testing process.

What Health Risks Does Burnblock Represent?

Some data indicate a slight irritation if Burnblock should accidentally come into direct contact with the eye. The Danish Technological Institute assesses this effect to be less than that of natural lemons and fruit juice.

In the Health Assessment from the Danish Technological Institute, no significant health risks due to Burnblock components are listed.

Is Burnblock Easy To Handle And Apply?

Yes. We have made the application process as easy as possible for you:

  1. Burnblock is supplied to you in IBCs/containers in a ready to use water based solution (standard 18.5%) which will provide excellent results in most fabrics. However, a solution with lower concentration may be sufficient for some fabrics and purposes. We recom- mend sample tests to determine the adequate solution for your specific fabric.
  2. The solution needs no heating.

Burnblock will be made available to you in customized big bags to fit your mixing tank: add water; stir shortly; and Burnblock is ready to use. Heating is not required. if you so desire, Burnblock will be supplied in pallet tanks.

Non-corrosive

Burnblock is a PH neutral solution and will not contribute to corrosion of machinery – not even if the machinery is not cleaned after the use of Burnblock.

Can I Store Burnblock?

Yes. Burnblock is a highly stable solution and can be readily stored at ambient temperatures, avoiding solution freezing. It is recommended to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sun light.

In general, one litre of Burnblock covers 5-10 m2 of fabric. However, the exact quantity depends on the absorbing power of the individual fabrics. We therefore recommend sample tests to determine the necessary level of addition.

Mixing With Softeners?

Burnblock is mixable with most traditional softeners. However, we recommend some simple tests to determine:

In general, the mixing ratio is max 10g softener to 1 litre of Burnblock. You may find that less softener is needed.
